چکیده

Liangmai, a Tibeto-Burman member spoken in North East India (NEI), has twenty consonant phonemes and six vowel with four contrastive tones. Three stops three nasals permitted at the end of syllable all consonants occurs beginning syllable. A voiceless libio-dental fricative which is rare other NEI languages major consonant. Vowel system several diphthongs. The close central unrounded /ɨ/ can appear as an allophone front /i/ back rounded /u/ dūip í n ~ ɨ́ ‘spring’ t ū ɨ̄ ‘push’. With or without coda, position nucleus occupied by obligatory also syllabic Syllable has  CV CVC patterns.  After resllabification, structure will like CCVC. Consonnat cluster not except for few idiolects. Nasal abundantly present language. Total assimiliation phonological proces manner progressive regressive assimiliation. Both undergoes syncope. Epenthesis does occur word level loan words. In fast speech, are voiced inter-vocally across morphemes. morpheme /jēi/ be realized allomorphs depending on envriornment they occur, due to morphophonological process. tonal tone. Register tones plenty contour rare.
